Basking in Schadenfreude

As Thunder is wont to say, "The schaden freudes itself", and I am positively basking in a most delicious sensation of schadenfreude. I almost put on the Rush Limbaugh show to hear that bloated bunghole having a meltdown on the public airwaves, but I'm not a masochist. I can gorge myself on the most succulent morsels of impotent rage without giving that moron additional ratings.

Ah, yes, schadenfreude is a heady feeling. I'll bask in the glow for a couple of days before sobering up and discussing the implications of the election, and the importance of staying politically alert and active. Right now, though, it's time for a happy dance:

The interesting questions (at least to me) are the opportunities of an Obama administration unfettered by the political requirements of re-election and the self-analysis of the Republican party (hint - they'll still at this point conclude they need to be more extreme right-wing and more ideologically pure).

But one of the things I've been thinking about today is the intersection of Obama's political agenda, historical legacy and individual ego. The first thing this calls to mind is that he has an overwhelming incentive to avert a regional war in the middle east. One of the things that will empower his second term is significant GDP growth, and war on the Gulf will spike energy prices and crush economic growth. So I see him using his influence to reign in Bibi and Likud and from there discovering he DOES have the power to influence history.

Much might spring from that. At this point it's hopeful speculation, but it seems to hold together logically...

Yeah, it's amazing how much good winding down those wars will do for the economy. Now, we need a fecking infrastructure plan- it's a week after superstorm Sandy and people are still without power, and there's a blizzard/nor'easter outside right now.

Indeed, the wailing of the wingnuts has been most schadenfreudulicious.

As for Obama being better in his 2nd term, we can all hope.
