Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye!

I have been holding off on posting about the situation in Egypt, because it is still fluid, and I have a nagging fear that the U.S. State Department will botch things up, but I have to say that the departure of Hosni Mubarak is an exciting development. I'm working on a more elaborate post about these developments, but I think that now is the time to celebrate. Shaabi is a popular Egyptian musical style, one which most likely formed the soundtrack to the lives of the young demonstrators. While I'm not knowledgable about Egyptian pop culture, this video is pretty damn easy on the eyes, and one particular lyric (translated) seems to be appropos. While the original seems to be about unrequited love, the questions it poses, "Why is he hiding like this? I don't know what's going on, why is confusing me like this? Why does he run away, and I never cross his mind?" can now be answered... he's hiding because his ass was run out of town!

Enjoy:

Congratulations to the people of Egypt... they've got sexy down pat, let's hope that whisky and (especially) democracy follow.

Let's hope they don't get our favorite CIA renditions specialist as their new dictator.

Meet the new boss.

I won't hold my breath for a change for the better before I see what's next. There's a lot of money and power and stake, and just because it's out of the hands of that old bastard doesn't mean the next ones are going to do a better job - although I surely wish they do.

Apart of that - the thing that she's doing with her hips is addictive. Never thought of Egyptian women as sooo sexy!

Yeah, I am guardedly optimistic, but I trust the young people in the streets of Cairo more than the pundits in the Washington Beltway. I think the important thing now is to show an outpouring of support (I would love it if the young people of Israel, the folks hanging out in the cafes in Tel Aviv, would get on the social networking sites and shower the young people of Egypt with well wishes- I think that would be a meaningful gesture to undercut the fearmongers and naysayers).

Oh, and Unrequited Love Dude, I hope you find a Ruby soon.

Apart of that - the thing that she's doing with her hips is addictive.

Just consult a doctor before you start doing it!

DO NOT EXERCISE THE BUM AWAY.

Hope all goes well for the Egyptians. Pretty nice folks once you get away from the tourist scams.

I've always thought that folks from that region of the globe were some of the loveliest in the world.

I'm being cautiously optimistic, as well.

I really like this group of Libyan guitarists AK got me into. .
