Malware Issue

Fuckety Fuck Fuck! Avast antivirus keeps giving me a "dangerous download blocked" message at my own goddamn blog. Thunder was kind enough to point this out to me last week:

Infection DetailsURL: h**p://sites.securepaynet.net/redirect_0...
Process: C:%5CProgram Files%5CMozilla Firefox%5Cc...
Infection: URL:Mal

I apologize to my readers for this, and hope that nobody has gotten any malware from this site. Being a bit of a computer "n00b" (the blogging is really just glorified word processing for me), I don't know what the hell to do about this untenable situation (oddly enough, though, I don't get a "ping" from Avast every time I navigate here, which confuses the hell out of me). I think I need to contact blogger technical support, but any advice would be appreciated.

On a happier note, I've been listening to "Rocket Scientist" by Sweden's Teddybears and Philly's Eve compulsively. It's really conducive to some serious ass-shaking, and the lyrics are a hoot:

It's a link with a flag. To be ignored. It's some third party link that is neither BBBB or Blogger, but that connects out to something with a flag on it.

I WOULD mention that good liberals use free operating systems, like, well, say, Ubuntu or Mint or Fedora that don't have these issues. They're free, they're open source, and they don't sell your soul to Apple or Microsoft.

Hey! You can choose anything you want, but if you could have something less corporate and free and carefully vetted by people who think like you do, why wouldn't you choose that?

Would have thought that Blogger are big enough and heavy-handed enough to keep the malware out. You don't seem to have any dodgy 3rd-party widgets installed, and the HMTL source doesn't reveal anything along the lines of "h**p://sites.securepaynet.net". It is a mystery!

How about we just blame fish?

I'd love to go the Linux or Ubuntu route, but I don't have much exposure to those operating systems.

Hey, am I the only one who thinks that the Blogger update makes editing html a real pain in the ass?

Just got it here myself. I kept getting it when I opened Chrome, but I think I had your SSClub item in an open tab for a few days. Scanned the eff out of the devil-box but found nothing, & usually Chrome doesn't open something it suspects; is avast just trying a harder sell than non-stop e-mailing?

Totally acclimated to the new Bugger (due to excessive use, maybe) but I can't think of any problems w/ the html.

I'd go open source yada too, but breathing being a barely tolerable imposition, the mere concept of learning/working on something new is overwhelming. (I don't even play an IT pro on tee vee, man.) Maybe if I get my desktop working.

The New Blooger makes nothing easier, that I've noticed.

And while I've gotten used to their crap, some things are still harder.

Don't add a picture in html mode, and then try to add a title= caption before you preview it in compose mode. Otherwise, all the html gets effed.

Running FYWP on a Mac, I see none of that BS, regardless of mikey's purist streak.

He has never been able to forgive me for using commercial software that has no realistic alternatives on Open Source.

Of course, upon reflection, I will modify that previous; it wasn't so much the FYWP (although seriously, dudes, with a small level of overhead it really is better than blooger) but that Firefox is involved, which is, as most will know, an Open SOurce project, more or less.

You can install Ubuntu in a VM (I find Virtualbox works pretty well on Windows) or there's also a Windows installer called WUBI that is pretty cool. Either way you'll discover that it installs out of the box, runs browsers and photo editing software and email and video players and just about everything else without having to change anything about your current setup. It's a simple way to decide if it's something you want to do. It's how I got started with Ubuntu.

My friend the zombie, unsurprisingly, has this zombie belief that I don't totally agree with him that if you need something for work then that's what you use, a belief that won't die no matter how many times I beat it with a shovel...

Is she towing you along on a sledge?

Weird, I'm not getting the malware warning today.

Either way if all you're doing is emailing and web-browsing, Ubuntu packages are perfectly usable. Give it a shot; most will install alongside Windows.

No malware warning here either, all of a sudden.

P.S. Naybe I'll add a Sister Sledge youtuber...

No malware warning here either,

well, of course not. Windows never warns you that it is malware.

Interestingly, OS X gives you LOTS of "Turn Back! Grues Ahead!" warnings if you try to install windows on a partition of your Mac.

Who-the-F___ is securepay.net anyway and who appointed them God-over-what-they-think-is spam. And how come my legitimate business emails to my PARTNERS get flagged as spam, but I still get tons of crap-spam? Who are these f__cks anyway?
