As a guy who works on the weekends, I tend to go out on Tuesday nights, luckily, that's the night that team bar trivia is held. It's a night spent with friends, in a friendly competition with rivals that we have come to value as friends. It's a good night to not watch the president's prime time television address. The president has been lying about immigration for years, and his assertion that four thousand terrorists were caught at the border is a howler.
I look at this effort by the president as a last-ditch effort to save face. His shutdown is already a disaster, and will rapidly become a catastrophe as paychecks and benefits payments become due. If Stephen Miller is the individual tapped to write the address, it will be an utter disaster.
I am going to head out to drink beer with my friends, there will be plenty of time to digest the address and rebuttal when I wend my way home. I really don't need to reward the media outlets for airing the address in the first place.

Good thinking. I'm leaving the tv off entirely. I'm sure I'll hear about it later if he says anything important, and well, even if he doesn't.
last night instead of paying attention to the oval office address spouse and self watched a couple of episodes of dystopian time travel tv show 'continuum' - it has a couple of actors in common with dystopian time travel tv show 'travelers' - not surprising since they were both made in bc (the canadian province, not the calendar era) - missus charley and i are using a form of time travel to watch them one after the other, at our convenience, rather than at a scheduled time once a week as was done in former days (i.e. we see them on netflix)
i call myself a time traveler from the 20th century - in fact i started my journey here in the first half of the twentieth century - less time ahead of me, more mistakes behind me - who knows if it's good or bad? or, as the ancient philosophical query goes - compared to what?
I watched a Lewis Black special, then watched the Holy Grail for the umpteenth time.
I believe I made good choices.
