On what planet? It was a critical success from the start, and a local music club even used it as a reference. I know we saw it in a theater. It was the first 'mockumentary'.
The first run was notable for having a decent number of youngsters who saw it and thought it was a real rockumentary.
I wonder if when those cats were writing this film they knew "to eleven" would become such an iconic, go-to joke/catchphrase.
