Eight Hour Endurance Test

Today, I am working outside from 10AM to 6PM... it's our major spring fundraiser, and staff from all of our sites will be working together. It's a great day for seeing people I haven't seen in a while, both co-workers and visitors. I enjoy the day, but it kinda kicks my ass. Of course, I have taken my usual warm-weather outdoor work precautions. I filled the 100 ounce Camelback "bladder" with water last night and threw it in the 'fridge, so I can re-hydrate. This year, I have slathered myself with a combination SPF30 sunscreen and natural insect repellent... consequently, I smell like a citronella candle, which is better than smelling like a sweat loaf.

Near the parking lot, there is a cottonwood tree sending out seeds so it looks as if there were drifts of cotton balls covering large portions of the property. I'll keep an eye out for my good friend Shelly, who will probably be around making sure her kids get laid.

After work, I'll actually have the luxury of going out for a cold beer, as I don't have to return to work until 4PM tomorrow. I think I'll need some hoppy sustenance after a long, citronella-scented day on the job.

Enjoy your beer (yuck!). Sounds like you've earned it. :)

Shelly and the cottonwood trees both sound awesome! Wish I could see them myself. :)

My air conditioner can't even cope right now (windows face west).

I'm going out to look for butterflies.

My windows face the north (No direct sun, ever!) but dig this anyway.

I'm sitting inside watching baseball.

It's been cold here for a week and raining cats and dogs. Today it's stopped raining and is getting into the sixties. Yesterday I mentioned to Clouds that a lot of people across the country are having what they call "Spring" and today I see some of you are having what you might call "Summer".

My eight hour endurance test last night was from six p.m. Till two a.m. or so, and involved beer and very loud middle aged musicians reliving their youth and commemorating fallen comrades. Didn't smell like citronella at all, although at the local corner tavern after, I had the bartender's specialty, a gin-based beverage called a Chupacabra. Yum. I may have had two.

Just don't get your fingers near Shelly's mouth, and don't breathe in the cottonwood fuzzies!

You're kinda like a mushroom, old chum. How can you stand sunny Gullyvornya?

We've had pop-up thunderstorms of great intensity on and off. That's the Northeast for you- if you don't like the weather, just wait ten minutes, and it will be completely different.

Gotta love the old local warhorses.

You got a recipe for that?

I did ask him, but...well, it was kind of late in the night and I didn't realize there would be a quiz.

I will have to go back and ask again. And get another demonstration...
