The New England Horror Tradition

Here's a little horror story set in the Miskatonic River Valley- a family became lost in a maize maze and turned out to be a mere 25 feet from an exit. The funny thing about this incident is that it takes place in Lovecraft Country, and it echoes the plot of a Lovecraft collaboration, but the Lovecraft story it is reminiscent of is not set in Lovecraft Country.

Somehow, though, I think the Old Gent would be pleased...

  2. bizarre story. I get saddened by how many nasty comments there are at the news site. I mean, yeah, it's foolish, but some people are just being nasty.

  3. This story is exactly why I don't do corn mazes.
I'd need a backpack with plenty of food and beverages if I was going to undertake such an .. umm.... undertaking. :)

And I agree with Aunt Snow. It wasn't the brightest thing to do with a newborn baby but some people take criticism to a whole new level.
Live and learn people. Live and learn. We ALL screw up-they'll be more careful with their kids from here on in. :)

  4. I'm all for the criticism. "Always turn right or always turn left: pick one" is not a hard rule to grasp.

  5. Borges was emphatic about turning to the *left*, in both "The Garden of Forking Paths" or "Dead in His Labyrinth".
People today, don't they read any more?

  6. Borges also informs us that the ideal labyrinth "has no stairways to climb, nor doors to force, nor unending galleries to wear one down, nor walls to block one's way."

    Slack-jawed yokels, no doubt!

    (corn field related)

    What isn't?

I mean, yeah, it's foolish, but some people are just being nasty.

I didn't read any of the comments- I've learned from past experience!

Next time, they'll take the baby skydiving.

Is that how you escaped from the maze-like dungeons of the House of Substance?

That Bubba person is a real jerk.

That's no reason to do him in!

    Typical socialist South American!

Obviously, he was complying with the Argentines with Disabilities act.
