It's Called Barbarism

Trust fund kid and serial bankruptcy declarer Donald Trump is emerging as the preferred 2012 presidential candidate for people dumber than he is. On CNN's Sunday "State of the Nation" show, he had the following to say about the Libya situation:

TRUMP: Somebody said, what would be your theory or what would you do in terms of Libya? I'd do one thing. Either I'd go in and take the oil or I don't go in at all. We can't be the policeman for the world.
CROWLEY: You'd just take their oil?
TRUMP: Absolutely. I'd take the oil. I'd give them plenty so they can live very happily. I would take the oil. You know, in the old days, Candy –
CROWLEY: Well, wait, we can't go –
TRUMP: - Candy, Candy, in the old days, when you have a war and you win, that nation is yours.

Yeah, that's why the old days were considered barbaric by modern standards, ya sociopath. Plus, if you're so gung-ho about your brigandry, how about putting your own ass on the line, ya gonif?

Gonif is one of my favorite Yiddish words- Happy Passover to all readers of the Jewish faith and/or culture.

Also in the old days when you were bankrupt you'd be thrown in prison until you or your relatives paid up.

At a castle somewhere in the Ukraine there's a pit: the legend goes that as you paid off your debt you got to sit on a higher board until you were out while deadbeats remained at the bottom in the piss and shit.

I'd take the oil.

Apparently it is sitting around in tanks on the surface ready to be stacked onto a container ship and transported home.

The "winning a war" part of the agenda is also kinda problematic.

I'm guessing that Trump is not personally that stupid, and he's espousing the economic model of "killing people and pillaging" because he thinks it will appeal to a large sector of voters who are that stupid.

Maybe it's the economic hard times -- the falling incomes and lowered expectations -- that makes sociopathy more appealing as a foreign policy.

It doesn't seem fair that people as breathtakingly stupid as Trump get to be rich. There is nothing good about that man. Sociopath is right. I think he'd push his own grandma down some stairs if he thought it might get him some more money or power or attention. He's a truly repulsive man. Tacky too. And very new money.

It helps that he was born rich, and so the bankruptcy laws work on his behalf, ensuring that every time he's gone bankrupt it's been other people's money he lost rather than his own.

Yes, I find that military action is a great way to acquire oil from foreign countries. It's not like hundreds of millions of barrels' worth of it ever end up on fire or anything.

I wonder if these kinds of comments from Trump are a sign that he's actually serious about his presidential run. He certainly seems to be gunning for the Palin fanbase.

One would think that "Kill them and take their stuff" would pall with the onset of maturity.

Alas, one would be wrong.

As would one think about fandom for Ayn Rand, irrational homophobia and fascination with Miley Cyrus.

Not to the lifetime supply of replacement wives!

I eagerly await tRump's demands that Japan hand over all of the gadgets and cars and Germany hand over all of the beer and cars. Watch out Spain and England!

My favourite Yiddish word is schmegma. Fitting, no?
