I used to love the New York Times, I used to believe that reading the Times was instrumental in garnering a deep understanding of current events. The love affair ended when I realized that the Times was a mess, particularly the op-ed section. I don't even click links to the Times that I find on other websites. The Times now announced that it would assign a reporter to the misinformation/disinformation beat:
I sure hope he turns his attention to the New York Times, with its mendacious Maggies and their cast of Douthats, Stephenses, and the like. Clean your own house before you seek falsity elsewhere. And, goddamnit, get me my damn magazine cover shoot!News! I'm joining the @nytimes newsroom as a disinformation reporter, where I'll be writing about misinformation and disinformation in all its forms. 🧵

The Times was quite fond of that Hitler guy too, and they had decades of knowledge about what a corrupt pig tRump was but during the 2016 campaign: crickets. I used to live them and now, like you I refuse to click on any of their links.
ReplyDeleteThey really didn't stand up to scrutiny. I take no pleasure in writing this.
ReplyDeleteI used to get information from them.
ReplyDeleteThey do get kudos for the 1619 project, and I appreciate the Tuesday Science section but Krugman and KenKen are what I mostly go to. And even Will Shortz has been playing fast and loose with crossword definitions!
