The latest right-wing outrage concerns a tweet by Kamala Harris telling Americans to enjoy the long weekend. Of course, this is all performative outrage, as conservative news outlets aren't exactly commemorating the solemnity of Memorial Day:

Also, none of the idiots lambasting VP Harris made a big deal about Vulgarmort actually wishing people a happy Memorial Day, leading me to believe that they operate on a double standard.
I don't begrudge people having a good time on Memorial Day weekend, paid days off are a rare occurrence for American workers. If the authorities wanted people to spend the day in solemn reflection, they should move it to January or February, when the westher is more conducive for somber occasions. The day has pretty much lost its significance for anyone who hasn't lost a loved one to war- it's now a day for the opening of the beach season, and for sales at home goods stores.
The attacks on Vice President Harris are cynical, and unconvincing... yet they aren't nearly as stupid as the current criticism of President Biden.
Every week Faux News and the rest try to throw anything they can at the wall, and whatever gets any traction with their rage addicted followers is what they harp on for as many news cycles as it works for, then they go find another set of chew toys to repeat the process with. Cynical plus evil.
ReplyDeleteTFG wished everyone a Happy Good Friday a couple of years ago. Not a word from Faux.
