Excess Ain't Rebellion

I love it how right-wingers try to couch their stupid resistance to energy conservation measures as a struggle for freedom... more like freedumb, if you ask me. Of course, the freedom to use inefficient appliances places one in greater thrall to corporations and hostile foreign regimes awash in petrodollars. I believe the brilliant songsters of Cake put it best when they sang:

Excess ain't rebellion, you're drinkin' what they're sellin'

That pretty much summarizes the right-wing authoritarians' id-based "freedumb".

How about a nice serving of Cake?

Now, that cake is no lie!

  1. They don't believe in basics like freedom of speech when it comes to opposing their leaders' wars for oil and corporate profits.

  2. The KFC campaign in NZ when they launched their Double-Down product was following the same approach. Express your rebellious nature and Stick it to the Man by eating yourself to death!

W/v says 'esser' to show it can speak German.

  3. The lightbulb "controversy" was always hilarious to me. I honestly can't figure out if these people are just blindly lashing out at anything they perceive as liberal or if there's some underlying ideological reason for it, no matter how dumb.

I'm thinking the former, because my parents are insanely conservative, but not really tuned into the wingnut narrative (they just don't absorb enough political media, basically), and their house is now filled with CFLs. Looks like they missed the memo about CFLs being a liberal plot.
